“Zhengzhou Foxconn has started trial production of 3 new iPhones (7s,7s Plus, “8”) About 200 units per day. iPhone 8 is not delayed” If is to be believed, it appears that Apple may have successfully embedded the Touch ID sensor under the display. PS4 4.72 firmware released

“This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.”. A pretty usual description for Sony’s latest update to the PS4 firmware. PS4 4.72 was released a few hours ago, and is a mandatory update (if you want to keep PSN access). There’s no indication at this point that this new firmware update patches any vulnerability that could be leveraged for a potential PS4 Jailbreak. In the meantime, the PS4 scene is eagerly waiting for a hacker to release a public Jailbreak for the console. The last publicly known PS4 Jailbreak was released for Firmware 4.76. Several hacking groups have confirmed they have working exploits up to firmware 4.55, and it is likely those work up to the latest 4.72, but nothing has been released yet. SOURCE

PS4 MTX KEY announced for preorder, a PS4 Modchip for gamesharing

Scene websites have revealed earlier today that mod stores started accepting preorders for the PS4 MTX Key. This hardware modification of the PS4 will allegedly allow people to share games with an unlimited number of friends. What is the PS4 MTX Key? The PS4 MTX Key is an upcoming hardware modification for the PS4. It allegedly allows groups of friends to share games between their PS4s with no limitation. In other words, one of your friends buys a (digital) game on the PSN through a shared account, then the whole group can play the game on their own PS4. Playstationhax reports that some PS3/PS4 scene veterans have confirmed the device is legit. The only difference between gamesharing and piracy is that initially, one of the users in the group needs to buy the original game, which can then be shared with a potentially unlimited group of friends. The catch is that gamesharing through these devices apparently involves sharing the original account’s password, so it...

Making consumer products more durable and easier to repair

The EU Commission, member states and producers should take measures to ensure consumers can enjoy durable, high-quality products that can be repaired and upgraded. Parliament wants to promote a longer product lifespan, in particular by tackling programmed obsolescence for tangible goods and for software. Its recommendations include: robust, easily repairable and good quality products: “minimum resistance criteria” to be established for each product category from the design stage, if a repair takes longer than a month, the guarantee should be extended to match the repair time, member states should give incentives to produce durable and repairable products, boosting repairs and second-hand sales - this could help to create jobs and reduce waste, consumers should have the option of going to an independent repairer: technical, safety or software solutions which prevent repairs from being performed, other than by approved firms or bodies, should be discouraged, essential compo...

Bloomberg: iPhone 8 will replace Touch ID with 3D facial detection, ProMotion possible

With the iPhone 8 expected to feature a design with a dramatically reduced bezel, analysts have made various predictions about where Touch ID will go including within the display, behind the iPhone, and in the power switch. Bloomberg reports that the new face detection feature could replace Touch ID completely including for unlocking devices and authorizing payments. Apple is testing an improved security system that allows users to log in, authenticate payments, and launch secure apps by scanning their face, according to people familiar with the product. Facebook to introduce AI that understands everything you post

Facebook's latest artificial intelligence system is known as "DeepText," and it has some pretty serious implications as far as privacy goes. The social network is interested in implementing the system that can help analyze thousands of posts per second across 20 different languages, all with near-human accuracy. What does that mean for you as a Facebook user? Soon, the company will be able to identify what you're saying in posts, messages and other content available via your profile and other pages to better offer suggestions and other helpful options. For example, if you happen to post a status about needing a ride or converse with a friend about when you might need to be picked up, Facebook might suggest you hit up Uber or Lyft services via Messenger transportation integration. The key is distinguishing between slang, jargon and other intricacies of human language that can sometimes make this sort of thing difficult for artificial intelligence to understand. ...
